Half of the book is based on ferrets and rabbits; however, the depth of all the species covered is incredible. For example in the ferret chapter the authors discuss blood transfusions, CSF taps, bone marrow collection, and pace makers to name just a few. I was surprised a small chapter on birds was not included.
Each section is divided by species; ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas, small rodents, sugar gliders, and hedgehogs.
Within each section are chapters on anatomy, basic care, G. I disease, disorders of the urinary system, reproduction, cardiovascular system, respiratory disease, endocrine system, neoplasia, dermatology, ophthalmology, musculoskeletal and neurologic systems, and soft tissue surgery.
